How this calculator works

For each carton type, CBM = length × width × height × quantity, converted to cubic meters. Mixed-shipment CBM is the sum of every line.

Using this result

Total CBM describes the theoretical space occupied by the entered cartons before pallets, gaps and loading access are added.

Worked example

Ten cartons measuring 60 × 40 × 35 cm occupy 0.84 m³ before pallet or loading allowances.

Shipping flooring or tile cartons

Determine the purchase quantity with our Project Material Calculator flooring tool or tile quantity tool, then confirm cartons per order with the supplier. Enter the sealed outer carton dimensions, carton count and gross weight here.

The floor coverage printed on a carton is an area, not its shipping volume. Do not enter room dimensions as carton dimensions. Pallets, gaps and loading access require additional freight space.

How to measure

Measure the outer carton, including seams.
Use the maximum dimension when cartons bulge.
Put each different carton size on its own line.

Common mistakes

Entering millimeters as centimeters.
Combining unlike carton sizes into one line.
Treating theoretical CBM as usable container capacity.
